My name is Kim and if you are reading this then there is a good possibility that I will be your photographer. A little bit about myself...I am located in Embrun, I am a mom to four little ones and I love taking photographs! Engagements, weddings, maternity, newborns, families...I enjoy them all. I prefer to work with natural light to capture you, your day, your family as casually as possible. Enjoy browsing through my work...

We had the prettiest light for this engagement session! And they had the cutest little pup to keep things lively! Christine said that she wanted the focus to be on their sweet Chloe and their relationship with her…I think we did all that and more. She made it into almost every photo, with just a quick break to hide from the smoky campfire! I hope you love these images as much as I do!

Carolyne and I go back to when she was a bridesmaid and I was the wedding photographer. Shortly thereafter she contacted me to see if I was available for her wedding on Labour Day weekend 2017. It was to be at her parent’s expansive property and the ceremony outdoors with a tent reception. All I heard was “space and natural light!” So of course I said YES!

The property was A-MAZING! As I drove down the long driveway I couldn’t believe my luck…I was getting to spend the day shooting in this beautiful location and with a great group of ladies. It’s always fun to work with people you’ve photographed in the past…there is an ease and comfort level amongst everyone, which leads to great images.

The ceremony was lovely and once it was done we hopped in our vehicles and headed to a private property for wedding party photos and then some solo images of the Bride and Groom. The weather was perfect – warm and sunny – and we were able to capture some gorgeous images before heading back to the reception.

Now the reception…the tent was set-up so beautifully that I could have photographed it forever! Swaths of cream, peach and gold fabric were everywhere and coordinated so perfectly with the table settings and Carolyne’s massive bouquet (www.kellysfloraldesign.com). It really was a sight to behold! There was also an outdoor area with tables, casual seating and warm blankets for those guests who wanted to sneak away for a conversation or quiet time.

Just before the sun began to set, Carolyne, Dave and I snuck away for a few minutes. The images of them, her parent’s property and the sunset as a backdrop, are some of my favourites ever taken. They turned out perfectly…just like the entire day. Thanks again Carolyne and Dave for choosing me to capture your wedding xo

Julie contacted me at the very last minute to see if I could do a quick maternity session for her. I was honoured because a returning client is a wonderful compliment. I was also completely caught off-guard because we literally live a 1 minute walk from each other and I had no idea she was expecting! During the summertime it can be difficult to fit in a last minute session but, as luck would have it, my travel plans were delayed and I was able to meet with this adorable family. The light was perfect and you’d never know that it was bedtime for her 2 year old…she was a superstar! We were able to get some beautiful images…thanks for trusting me with your memories Julie xo

Marie-Eve was referred to me by another beautiful expectant mama whom I had worked with a few months earlier. She was looking for a short session, just enough to capture a handful of images to document this special time. This was the end result…aren’t they a lovely couple?

It has been months since I’ve look through these images and I think I love them even more now than I did then! Chris & Laura were a dream couple to work with…sweet, kind, not demanding and very photogenic! My first dealings with Laura were actually through her mom…Mary messaged me to see if I was available and could I please touch base with her daughter who was living out-of-province. A few emails – and I think a phone call later – I was booked to shoot their August 2017 wedding. We were supposed to meet the day of the wedding, but Laura and Chris were going to be visiting the Ottawa area in June and wondered if we could fit in an engagement session? So we met for a quick session literally hours after they got off the plane. It was a great idea…they got some pretty images and we all got comfortable with each other and being in front of the camera. For those couples on the fence about an engagement session I highly recommend them for all of those reasons!

The weather forecast for their wedding day was not a good one…but the weatherman can be wrong, right?! As I drove to meet Laura at the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata I watched the sky the entire way. The thunderstorm began just as I was pulling into the parking lot. C’est la vie! Everyone was a good sport about the weather and Laura made the decision to wait until the very last minute before deciding whether or not the planned outdoor ceremony would be moved indoors.

Chris and his groomsmen were also at the hotel getting ready in a separate room. We spent a couple of hours on the “prep” photos before heading off to The Herb Garden in Almonte. I have photographed there in the past and was excited to return. The grounds are lovely and make for beautiful wedding images!

I’m not sure if it was as we were making our way to the ceremony, or if it happened as we pulled into the parking lot, but the skies cleared and the sun actually began to shine! It really was amazing how quickly the weather shifted. The ceremony was able to take place outside and we even got through most of the formal photos before the weather turned yet again and the rain started.

The reception was in a large, beautifully decorated tent on the property. I was touched, as I made my way around photographing the little details, to see that the Bride and Groom had chosen to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Ottawa Distress Centre in lieu of traditional favours. What a beautiful gesture to honour important people in their lives…and it speaks volumes about their character.

My time with them ended shortly after dinner, as we moved to the barn for a first dance. It was a wonderful day, spent with wonderful people! I look forward to capturing other life milestones for them in the future!
