CHANTALLE & JORGE’S COURTYARD WEDDING ~ EMBRUN, RUSSELL, OTTAWA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I had spent time with Chantalle and Jorge earlier in the year for an engagement session so I was familiar with them and looking forward to spending the day together.

To start the day I met with Chantalle and her wonderful group of girlfriends at a hotel suite for some “getting ready” shots. Once hair was done, make-up applied and dress was on and laced, I headed over to their apartment to capture a few images with Jorge and his family who had made the trip from Columbia for their wedding day. From there we headed to Strathcona Park (gorgeous location!) for a “first look” and some photos with their beloved pups, Willis and Pippa. Lucky for us we were blessed with an amazing November day…it really was perfect! Our final location was The Courtyard Restaurant for a few more photos before the late afternoon ceremony began.

Chantalle and Jorge, you were a pleasure to work with from start to finish and I feel lucky to have been part of your special day. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!

MICHELLE & BRONSON’S WEDDING SESSION AT ORCHARD VIEW ~ EMBRUN, RUSSELL, OTTAWA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Michelle first contacted me after getting my name from another bride client but her request was a little unique: something had happened to their wedding photos from this past Summer and could I help them out by trying to recapture some images? I loved the idea because I would be able to work with them alone and uninterrupted. Best of all the images would all be outdoors and at the gorgeous Orchard View Wedding and Conference Centre in Greely. And (if I needed another reason to jump at the opportunity) we would be shooting later in the afternoon as the sun began to set…perfect light! Here is what happens when you get a beautiful couple in the perfect setting…enjoy!

AMY & BRAD’S WEDDING AND WILLIAMSTOWN RECEPTION ~ EMBRUN, RUSSELL, OTTAWA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Well where do I begin with Amy & Brad? We were familiar with each other after meeting for their engagement session in August – they were warm, welcoming and easy to be with so I knew that working with them on their wedding day would be a piece of cake.

The wedding day started at Amy’s house for some images of the girls getting ready before I headed off to a tiny little church to meet the guys. And it really was so tiny that I almost missed it! But Amy had warned me to look for a some wilted sunflowers and low-and-behold there were a handful of dying sunflowers surrounding the church sign. But as droopy at they were, the thought behind it was sweet: Amy and Brad had planted sunflowers in their backyard and hoped to use them for the engagement session. Unfortunately the flowers hadn’t bloomed by early August so we made plans for a different location. Brad still wanted to use them for the wedding and took them from the backyard to the church. The only thing missing was water to keep the flowers alive 😉

The forecast was rain but I think everyone had high hopes…until halfway through the ceremony when it began to pour. And it was still raining pretty hard when we made our way from the church to the reception location at the Williamstown fairgrounds. I had never been to the fairgrounds before but Amy and her team of family & friends did an amazing job transforming the barn into a gorgeous reception venue!

Despite the rain, the day was absolutely perfect.  And Amy & Brad lived happily ever after. The end 🙂

TERRI & DAN GET MARRIED AT BILLINGS ESTATE ~ EMBRUN, RUSSELL, OTTAWA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

My first meeting with Terri and Dan was at a local coffee shop for a chat and to get a feel if we were a good photographer-client “fit”. I love to meet clients ahead of time (or at least have an in-depth phone call) and this was no exception…they were sweet and I loved their wedding day plan. And I still remember leaving our meeting when Terri confided to me that she had wanted a face-to-face meet to be sure I wasn’t a weirdo 😉 I can happily say that they hired me and the rest is history!

Their big day started out at a local hotel with all the girls getting ready and then we moved onto the lovely grounds of the Billings Estate. It was a soggy, wet day but Terri and Dan came prepared with umbrellas and an awesome attitude…you can’t beat that! They were gorgeous and so obviously in love…the images don’t lie…see for yourself!

CAITLIN & LUC’S WEDDING ~ EMBRUN, RUSSELL, OTTAWA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

After meeting with Caitlin and Luc for their Spring engagement session I was excited to work with them on their big day. I knew that Caitlin would be stunning and was right!  Her dress was amazing and can I just say that she has the most gorgeous porcelain skin I have ever seen?! Luc was impeccably dressed in a charcoal suit and they made a beautiful couple on their big day.

The wedding itself was held at Rideau Park United Church in Ottawa. Occasionally I am asked to shoot a wedding in a Church. And occasionally the Church will not allow flash photography. This is a challenge because you can never predict how much light you will have indoors. Lucky for me this Church did have a few lovely windows and it was a bright, sunny day that allowed for some hazy light to seep into the building. But of course I was eager to have outdoor time with them afterwards. They chose a beautiful park where we were able to capture some group images as well as some couple shots…I think they turned out great. Enjoy!
